As a person-centred psychotherapist based in Southampton, my passion is working with
survivors of sexual and domestic abuse. I have dedicated my career to helping individuals
heal from the trauma they have experienced and rediscover their innate strengths and resilience.
My journey as a therapist began after completing my bachelor’s degree in Person-Centred Psychotherapy. During my training, I discovered the power of the person-centred approach and how it can help clients
feel seen, heard, and valued. I was drawn to the approach's emphasis on the therapeutic relationship and how it can be a catalyst for
healing and growth. In my work with survivors of abuse, I create a
safe and non-judgmental space for clients to explore their experiences and emotions. I believe that every client is the expert on their own life and experiences, and my role is to facilitate their journey towards healing and
self-discovery.
My approach is grounded in the person-centred principles of empathy, unconditional positive regard, and authenticity. I use a variety of methods to help clients develop a
deeper understanding of their experiences and emotions, including empathy, reflection, validation, and exploration of core beliefs and values.
One of my strengths is helping clients build a
sense of self-compassion and self-care. Survivors of abuse often struggle with feelings of
shame, guilt, and low self-worth. I work with clients to challenge these negative beliefs and develop a more positive and compassionate relationship with themselves.
I recognise that abuse impacts not only the survivor but also those around them, and I work with clients to help them navigate the
complex dynamics of abuse within relationships.
I am committed
to continuing my education and staying up-to-date on the latest research in the field of
trauma therapy. I also believe in the
power of personal growth and my aim is to regularly attend workshops and retreats to deepen my own self-awareness and healing journey.
Overall,
my passion for helping those affected by sexual and domestic abuse allows me to help clients reconnect with their
inner strength and resilience.
